Another one of my lovely one-to-one painting and drawing sessions, today. These recent classes in my studio have been given as Christmas presents, and have been so enjoyable ( for me, anyway!)  It’s an ideal introduction to art, and builds confidence at the student’s own pace. Today, we drew for a bit, and then worked on skin and facial features in soft pastels. Really fun.

Fun, once more, last night,at  Creative Juice at South Square, in Thornton. Soft pastels are such a flexible medium, useful for all kinds of work; strong mark-making and subtle blending.  Last night we experimented with three- tone portraits and seascapes. Some lovely work achieved. Well done!

I’ve added one extra workshop before the summer break.  Now on May 4th, from 7.30 till 10, when, with watercolours, we shall look at the tricky notion of painting trees and flowers. We’ll then try adding people to our land and seascapes. This can help to tell a painting’s story, and can be used as an aid to perspective. Come and give it a try! £15.
